Side Effects, makers of Houdini, have announced plans to release their Houdini Engine plugins for 3DS Max, Cinema 4D, Unity, and Unreal in late 2014, following the previous release for Maya. The Houdini Engine API will allow for users to bring Houdini assets into the software package they are most comfortable with. Full details can be read on the .

This are really good news!
Wow! Sounds like a great news indeed!
First good news in long time.
That’s super exciting news!
Ok, it seems a good news (and surely it is) but:
another external plugin…:(
Awesome. Good News !
Great! I recently wrote to Side Effects to ask them if they would make their engine for max but they were not ready at the time! Great to know they are now going forward with this. The more we have access to tools in max, the better for me!
That is amazing news! I absolutely love houdini, however there are some “high-level” things that i cannot live without forcing me to work in max ( day-to-day tasks are rarely overly complex). Sadly this has put the breaks on whenever I wanted to integrate houdini deeper into the pipeline. Lack of native alembic support by Adsk does not help either. This here has potential to change everything! Yes it’s a “plug in” but it’s a plugin that lifts the limits of 3dsmax while allows you to still use the tools that allow you to work smart and efficiently.
Tnx SideFX, MU for heads up and also Strob for always helping and looking after max community!
nw – I absolutely agree with you. I have the same ‘issue’, small things that I do so much faster in 3dsmax then any other application, but that’s how it goes after spending 16 years daily with 3dsmax..
I have to say that this is very exciting news!
