Pilgway releases 3DCoat 2024
Pilgway has officially announced the release of 3DCoat 2024. Among the notable new features is the introduction of Vector Displacement Brush support, allowing for the importation and application of VDM EXR files for more intricate sculpting details. The software also introduces a new Vector Displacement Creation tool, “Pick & Paste,” designed to simplify the process of capturing and replicating the surface details of objects within a scene.
Another key advancement is the implementation of Live Booleans with Voxels, supporting Add, Subtract, and Intersect modes for complex object manipulations. This release sees the integration of Layers Masks and Clipping Masks, compatible with Photoshop, enhancing texture and detail work across various painting modes. Continuous incremental updates to the user interface aim to improve usability and aesthetics, including better font readability and spacing.
The 2024 version also brings new tools like the “Edge Flow” tool in the Modeling Room for adjusting curvature in geometry, alongside significant enhancements in UV management, 3D printing export compatibility, and Python API expansions for more flexible development. An Addons system has been introduced to foster a community of developers and users, sharing scripts and tools to extend the software’s capabilities further.
Among the various improvements, the Scene Scale Master tool has been implemented to ensure accurate scale fidelity between 3DCoat and other applications, and the software’s integration with Blender has been improved. The addition of an AI Assistant, a specialized Chat GPT, and a new UI color scheme toggle aim to streamline workflows and customize the user experience. The release also focuses on enhancing the software’s efficiency and intuitiveness, as seen in the redesigned Activity Bar and Viewport-Capture features, aimed at reducing UI clutter and improving navigation.
