Foundry releases Nuke Stage – a new virtual production tool in early-access
Foundry has launched early access for Nuke Stage, its new standalone tool designed for virtual production workflows. The software is purpose-built to unify pre-production and final image creation, providing real-time playback of photorealistic environments on LED walls using industry-standard visual effects tools like Nuke.
Nuke Stage allows visual effects artists to maintain consistent color and image quality from set to post-production. It supports the OpenColorIO color management system and HDR formats, aiming to ensure precise color matching between real and virtual elements.
The software operates independently of other virtual production platforms or game engines. It runs on standard hardware and does not require specialized media servers or proprietary setups. This approach allows for scalable deployment across various in-camera visual effects stages.
Nuke Stage features include live compositing with a node-based system, high-resolution EXR playback, and a user interface aligned with the traditional Nuke environment. The tool supports collaboration between cinematographers and VFX teams, aiming to simplify in-camera finals and streamline production stages.
