At GDC Autodesk announced a collaboration with Rokoko to bring their library of professional motion capture clips to Maya. Currently available in Unity, thousands of clips will become available to Maya artists, with the majority costing between $3 - $6. NVIDIA has released a new demo that might make some CG artists break out in a nervous sweat. GauGAN is the latest in an increasingly long line of demos that show simple paintings turned into more accomplished artwork. In this example, like several of the others, the tool uses generative adversarial networks or GANs, to convert segmentation maps into images using a deep learning model trained on a million images. Update: Allegorithmic has announced at GDC that the Project Alchemist Beta is now available for subscribers. Also revealed was a new Substance Launcher designed to make it easier to manage Substance tools, materials, and Substance Source and some of the upcoming features for Painter.
