3DS New York user group announced

Over the last 15 years, 3DS London has grown to become one of the most popular CG meetup groups in the world. With a record-breaking attendance of 460 people in April, its success can be attributed to a well-planned series of events for 3D artists to get together, discuss ideas, jobs, new technology and present their achievements in a friendly and relaxed environment. Allan McKay’s TyFlow tutorials

Updated 3 May 2019. If you're new to TyFlow then Allan Mckay's latest tutorial is a good place to start. It focuses on creating your first particle system using the example of multi-coloured fireworks. Watch it on YouTube.

Also released this week was a new one and a half hour tutorial for TyFlow, demonstrating how to create ash and other low mass effects of the type seen in Avengers. In fact, it's based on Allan's work on Avenger's Endgame as well as the ash disintegration effects from Blade, the God of War Superbowl spot and more.  (more...)

Quixel

Quixel Bridge 2019 released

Quixel has released a new update to Bridge, its content management tool that allows users to browse, preview, download, and export Megascans assets. New features focus on UX, including the ability to preview assets in 3D as well as a map view and more in-depth information about each asset. The right-pane has been overhauled and is now the home for information about the asset, the download settings and export properties. (more...)

Pulze Post Manager released

Following a lengthy period of beta testing, Pulze, a company started by Brick Visual to sell software, has announced the commercial release of Post Manager. The commercial software allows users to  simplify the image creation and maintenance process in Photoshop. According to the creators “It is designed for the new generation of Artists who can create clean and organised files, and keep them updated throughout the lifecycle of a project.”  (more...)

Quixel

Quixel to offer MDL materials

Quixel has announced that it will be working with NVIDIA to provide its Megascans assets library in MDL format. MDL is designed as a platform agnostic material definition format that already has support from V-Ray, Unreal, Iray, Substance,  and Solidworks. Read the announcement on Quixel's blog.
