LuxRender 1.6 features announced

The first release candidate of v1.6 of LuxRender is out. New features in the latest version of the unbiased, production-oriented open source renderer include: major improvements to the LuxCore render engine, shadow catcher objects, sky ground color, new image pipeline, much better support for nodes in Blender, automatic Blender materials conversion from Cycles, etc. The 3DS Max plugin has also been reworked and is now much better integrated. ZSceneManager 1.2 available

New features in Exoside's Brush plugin dedicated to speed up management of SubTools include: Merge for sculpt (allows to sculpt, paint, move/rotate/scale multiple SubTools all as one), hotkeys, call ZBrush commands on multiple SubTools in one click, new 'Texture' Column, Maya compatibility. ThinkingParticles 6.3 is out

Cebas has released ThinkingParticles 6.3, and has posted a video outlining the new caching system that offers 10 times faster Cache read/write operations. This latest release also allows for Alembic file read and write operations, new Implicit Surfacing Options, and much more. You can read more on the Cebas website.

AutoCAD 2017 is out

New features in Autodesk's computer-aided design software include: smart centerlines and center marks, import PDF files, ability to share your 2D and 3D CAD drawings in the cloud (with people who don't have AutoCAD), easier migration of your custom settings and files from previous releases, etc. AutoCAD is available through rental licensing.
